Research & DevelopmentInnovation is nurtured and encouraged at Technology Park Adelaide, aided by the number of research and development initiatives located at the adjacent University of South Australia Mawson Lakes campus. Companies within the Park recognise the benefits of such a partnership. Saab Systems is part of the global Saab Corporation that employs over 14,000 people and generates annual revenues exceeding AUD$3 billion, much of which is re-invested in research and development. As a result, Saab Systems was judged the top defence R&D company in 2002. The Saab Corporation is one of the world’s leading high technology companies focusing on defence, aviation and space. Saab Systems’ Merv Davis explains the reasons behind their location at Technology Park Adelaide. “Innovation is absolutely critical to our business. It is what differentiates us between the many others that would otherwise be in the business. You need to partner with others, and still a lot of how effective that is depends on geographic proximity. So for us, it’s very important to be close to the University and to the other organisations that have a similar need and for us, in particular, the Defence Science and Technology Organisation.” Relevant Links: |
