PREMIER LAUNCHES NEW BUSINESS HUB FOR TECHNOLOGY PARK

South Australia’s Technology Park will get a new $3.2 million Business Hub ensuring it remains a world class site for technology related business, Premier Mike Rann announced tonight.

Mr Rann said the construction of the new Business Hub will provide businesses and their employees with state of the art conference facilities, accommodation and a range of support services to assist innovative enterprises to grow and develop.

"Today’s technology based companies are looking to locate in stable business communities that offer a healthy, innovative and creative environment where opportunities for collaboration with like companies are possible," Mr Rann said.

"This new facility at Technology Park will assist in providing the right business environment for these innovative and technology based companies."

The new hub will complement other developments now under way at the Park which are designed to stimulate business investment.

"A new road entrance is being constructed together with attractive landscaping to improve accessibility and the visual amenity of the Park for the thousands of motorists that commute to and from the city along Main North Road," Mr Rann said.

"A Master Plan for the Park also provides for the continued development of serviced office accommodation for start up and mid sized companies with the first of these facilities - four studio terraces - to be constructed later in the year."

Mr Rann said that the continuing development of Technology Park was critical to the State’s economic development and the latest investment would help move the Park into the 21st Century as a vibrant and internationally recognised leader in wealth creation and job growth.

"With the neighbouring Mawson Lakes project and the University of South Australia campus within walking distance, Technology Park offers businesses a unique environment which rivals similar projects elsewhere in Australia and overseas," he said.

"In the future, new models of technology and science communities will emerge which provide opportunities to live, work and access local facilities and foster social interaction between academia, the workforce and residents through the creation of environments which South Australia already has on offer here at Technology Park, Mawson Lakes.
