RAPID GROWTH AT TECHNOLOGY PARK ADELAIDE

The expansion of Technology Park Adelaide takes another step forward with the construction of a purpose built facility for Opaltec Australia underway.

Opaltec Australia, whose parent company is based in the United Kingdom, has rapidly risen to become the leading supplier of new, refurbished and surplus barcode and point-of-sale hardware in Australia. It is winning business from all over Australia and generating export dollars by selling products to Asia, India, New Zealand and Pakistan

Stephen Marodi, Opaltec Australia Managing Director, says that Technology Park Adelaide is an ideal location for his company as it offers credibility of address, networking opportunities, infrastructure support and opportunity for growth.

“Tenants at Technology Park Adelaide are not just involved in business relationships,” Mr Marodi says.

“We are all involved in a tight knit community and experience mutual benefit from using each other’s services,” he says.

Opaltec Australia started off as a one man show in 2004. Now Mr Marodi manages eleven employees and anticipates that there will be twenty employees with the company by the end of next year.

“We are moving into a 600sqm building, and predict that we’ll need all of that space within five years,” he says.

Technology Park Adelaide is managed by the State Government’s Land Management Corporation (LMC).

LMC Chief Executive Wayne Gibbings says that companies like Opaltec Australia help keep skilled workers in Adelaide.

“Businesses, such as Opaltec Australia, are operating in favourable economic conditions in South Australia, which is offering local employment opportunities and encouraging skilled workers to remain in South Australia”.

The next twelve months will see an increase in the level of new development taking place at Technology Park Adelaide.  The Opaltec Australia facility at Enterprise Village will be followed by further private development projects, which will commence construction in early 2007.

“Enterprise Village is a dedicated precinct offering small to medium enterprises an attractive environment that can provide a company with its own corporate identity and prestige address, whilst still having access to all of the available business benefits on offer from Technology Park Adelaide,” says Mr Gibbings.
