SAAB SIGNS COOPERATION AGREEMENT WITH U.S. DEFENCE COMPANY

Leading South Australian-based defence systems company Saab Systems Pty Ltd is supporting Northrop Grumman in a project bid for the Royal Australian Air Force.

Saab Systems leads Australia in the design, systems integration, delivery and support of defence command and control systems with highly successful projects in ship-based and battlefield-based systems.

Along with third partner, Tenix Defence, the team intends to cooperate to supply a Multi-mission Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (MUAV) capability that includes and supports the Northrop Grumman's Global Hawk.

Saab Systems has previously worked with Northrop Grumman and is keen to continue this effective partnership.

"We will be supporting Northrop Grumman with the Global Hawk UAV, particularly in the development of a proposal for the Integrated Ground Environment (IGE) element of the system," said Saab Systems' Managing Director, Mr Merv Davis.

"We will offer our systems engineering skill and prime systems integrator experience to help Northrop Grumman provide an Australian IGE for Global Hawk," Mr Davis said.

The exact value of Saab's component cannot be estimated at this stage but it will require the creation of new, long-term systems engineering positions in Adelaide.

"This project will take advantage of Saab's global expertise in aerosystems and systems integration and fits well with our business model of forming quality partnerships for high technology systems solutions.

"The project presents an excellent opportunity to showcase the specialised skills and resources available through Saab Systems in Australia."
